Welcome to the SP' LPGCA 2026 SEASON!
Season details
There are a total of 36 events over 34 weeks planned for the 2026 season.
The first Wednesday Blitz of the season is on March 11, 2026. There is a Blitz or Mini Tournament scheduled every Wednesday throughout the season. Season ends with the Blitz on October 28, 2026.
The Wednesday shotgun start time is 4PM in March (March 11th, 18th and 25th). From the beginning of April through September 23nd, the Wednesday start time is 4:30PM. Beginning on Wednesday September 30th, the Blitz start time returns to 4PM for the remainder of the season.
Four Mini Tournaments or ‘Minis’ are planned for the season and will replace the Wednesday Blitz when scheduled:

o 4/8/2026: Mini #1. 2-Club. You play the round with only 2 clubs that you select.

o 6/3/2026: Mini #2. Knock Off Holes. Record your score as you do for a Wednesday Blitz. After the round, 5 holes will be chosen lottery style. Only the scores from these holes will count for Mini scoring and scores will be adjusted by 5/9th of a player’s handicap to determine the winners.

o 7/22/2026: Mini #3. Eliminator. You start with 9 clubs including putter; you take one club out of your bag and give it to your playing partner after each hole until you finish with one club.

o 9/9/2026: Mini #4. Chapman. 2-player teams with different formats depending on the par of the hole.
Additional details about the Minis will be disseminated a week prior to the event.
The annual Stonie Cup will be on October 21st.
Something new this year. We will play two Wednesday Blitzes at Eagle Haven Golf Course aboard the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek instead of Sewells Point Golf Course. Those dates are June 17th and August 12th. We will play the front nine in June and the back nine in August.
Two Saturday 18-hole Tournaments are scheduled:
o 5/16/2026: Member-Member Tournament. 9AM shotgun start.
o 9/26/2026: Club Championship. 9AM shotgun start.

Weekly prize payout. Weekly payout formula has been modified with the following payout each week:
-
ACE (low net)
-
2nd place (2nd low net)
-
3rd place (3rd low net)
-
4th place (4th low net)
-
Team (team low net). 2-player teams selected at random each week.
-
Skins. A portion of the prize money each week will be set aside for a skins payout. To win a “skin” requires one player to have the single lowest net score on a hole that week (no ties). If two or more players are tied for the lowest net score on a hole, no skin is awarded for that hole. The number of “skins” won that week are totaled and the money is evenly divided. If no “skin” is won during the week, the money is carried forward to the next Blitz.

SP’ LPGCA Local Rules. One modification to the league’s local rules has been made involving play from bunkers. It reads:
“For all balls in bunkers, players are permitted to lift, rake and place the ball back in its original position without penalty. If the ball is in standing water in a bunker, players may relocate the ball at the nearest point outside of the standing water, no closer to the hole without penalty and are permitted to rake the sand prior to placing the ball in the new location. In the event there is standing water in the entire bunker, players must drop without penalty outside the bunker behind the spot of the original ball, keeping that spot between the hole and the spot where the ball is dropped.”
The complete SP’ LPGCA Local Rules sheet is available on the league website. Select the “Member Area” icon above.

New member information
Sewells Point’s Lamberts Point Golf Course Association (SP'LPGCA) is a 9-hole league that plays every Wednesday from the middle of March to the end of October each year. The league began more than 15 years ago at Lamberts Point Golf Course and moved to
Sewells Point Golf Course at the beginning of the 2023 season following the closure of Lamberts Point.
The league is open to men and women age 18 or older and all playing abilities. Women play from the red tees and men play from the white tees. Men over 65 can choose to play from the yellow tees.
League play is handicapped. New members will establish a league handicap once you have played three times. New members with a USGA/VGCA Handicap Index can use their handicap index starting with the first round until a league handicap is established. League handicaps are based on the best three of the last five 9-hole rounds.
Members sign up for play each week using the league’s website
(https://lpgca1.wixsite.com/lpgca). Sign up closes at 7PM each Tuesday. The next day’s lineup is posted to the website later each Tuesday evening.
Weekly league buy-in is $5 and prizes are awarded based on handicapped scores.
Regular Wednesday league rounds are referred to as a Blitz. Four times during the season Mini Tournaments or ‘Minis’ are held on Wednesday instead of a Blitz. Each Mini has a different format. Wednesday start time is 4PM in March and October. From the beginning of April to the end of September the start time is 4:30PM. A shotgun start is used with starting hole assignments listed on the weekly lineup.
There are also two Saturday 18-hole events – the Member-Member Tournament and the Club Championship held during the season. There are early morning start times for the Saturday events.
